Sometimes a scene just doesn’t flow and you can’t figure out why. Or perhaps a character is being awkward. You head to your desk every day with a sense of dread because you know you’ve got to get through this tricky patch. You’re stuck, but you don’t know how to get unstuck. It could be a case of, you can’t see the wood for the trees. You need some perspective. You need to see that character or scene from a different angle to help you get past it and I have a trick to help.
Your writing prompt: Rewrite a scene from a different character’s perspective. If you’re writing in first person, this can be very useful because you can see your protagonist from the outside. And if you’re writing in third person, you may find a character with a strong voice, who could be pivotal to the plot.
