Here are some writing opportunities I’ve come across this week…
Fee: a whopping £25, so make sure your entry is the very best it can be.
Entrants: Unpublished women with books written for children and young adults.
Prize: £5,000 for 1st. Five finalists receive invitation to network with literary agents.
All you have to do is submit the first 3,000 words of your finished children’s novel. Any genre, but your book must total at least 15,000 words.
Closing date: 19 September
Bare Lit Festival – Get involved for 2017
This is a literary festival that promotes and supports writers of colour. The event is based in London, but I don’t think you need to be. The organisers are now taking applications for anyone who wants to be part of Bare Lit Festival 2017.
If you’re a writer of colour, of any kind, including fiction, journalism, poetry, graphic novels, you can apply here. The event takes place in March 2017.
Gal-Dem Magazine Submissions
Gal-Dem Magazine was founded by a writer of colour who was fed-up with not being represented in mainstream media. It is primarily, but not exclusively written by women of colour, but has a totally inclusive approach and writes for everyone.
You can be part of the first ever print issue by submitting an article or piece of writing firstname.lastname@example.org. Check out Gal-Dem.com online.
Fingers on keyboard, ready, set go…
And good luck.
