About

Writers Anon is a creative writing group based in Taunton, Somerset. My name is Chella Ramanan and I set up the group with three fellow writers, back in the summer of 2010.

I wanted to create a group that supports local writers, offers them an excuse to socialise with other scribblers and gain valuable feedback on their work.

The group is focused on writers who are serious about their craft and want to be published. It takes commitment to make a career out of writing, but it can also be a lonely business. Writers Anon is here if you want to get away from your desk and want some readers to tell you how your writing project is shaping up.

The Writers Anon blog is just another space to talk about writing. Here people can post work for honest, constructive feedback. It doesn’t matter if you’re not a Taunton local or a member of the group, we’re still interested in reading your work.  This is the perfect place for you, if you can’t make the meetings or don’t feel comfortable reading your work out and facing the music.

Keep it friendly and keep writing.

  1. Hello,

I hope all’s well with you. We’re very aware that writing groups have been severely affected by the Covid outbreak, so – in order to keep Writers Anon writing – we’d like to offer your members a 20% discount (£79.20 for the eight-week course rather than the full price of £99) on the forthcoming Write Here… Online novel-writing course if they sign up by midnight on Tuesday 31 July. Would it be possible for you to share this email with them?

Write Here… Online (13 September to 1 November) is an eight-week course, taught by expert editor and Two Piers Agency literary agent Rufus Purdy, which takes writers from those tentative early planning stages right through to submitting their finished manuscript to literary agents and publishers. Featuring masterclasses on plot, characterisation, dialogue and all the other essential aspects of novel-writing, the course also involves all-important sessions on editing and pitching your novel. The final week will also involve a Q&A session in which Rufus directly answers students’ questions directly.

Your members can see all the information on the course and sign up for the discounted fee of £79.20 (rather than the full price of £99) via the link below…
